This is with reference to UPSC’s Advt. No. 05/2010 for Engineering Services Examination, 2010 published in Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar dated 30th January, 2010.  It is informed that in addition to the existing system of applying through a Common Application Form for the Examinations conducted by the Commission, the candidates for Engineering Services Examination, 2010  can also apply Online using the link Salient features of the system of On Line Application Form are given hereunder :

  • Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website.
  • Candidates will be required to complete the On-line application form containing two stages viz.  Part-I and Part-II as per the instructions available in the above mentioned site through drop down menus.
  • The candidates applying Online are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs. 50/- [excepting  Female ,SC, ST & PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee]  either by remitting the money in any branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using any Visa/Master Credit/ Debit  Card.
  • Before starting filling up of  on-line application, a candidate must have his/her photograph and signature duly scanned in the .png format in such a manner that each file size should not exceed 40KB each.
  • The Online applications for Engineering Services Examination, 2010 (Part 1 and 2 ) can be filled from 6th February, 2010  to 22nd February, 2010 till 11.59 p.m. after which link will be disabled.


we use PAYROLL software in our office and due to pay fixation and various other changes in the software the table structure of the database needs to be changed frequently. here is some code to do so:

apart from that we need to copy the other database tables “bankdb” and “salmenu” to run the program.

ps. : in the database use clrt+t to select the data, and ctrl+w to go back to menu.

Airtel 98 GPRS plan

Airtel has introduced GPRS monthly plan for Rs 98 onl. To get this plan, just “Easy Recharge” with Rs.98.

First activate Mobile Office on your number by dialing *567*11# &  this activates basic plan of Mobile Office, which is 30paise/50kb, pay as you browse.

After you ERecharge with Rs.98, it overrides the basic plan & you will get 2Gb of free browsing.

“Invalid Boot.ini” Error in Windows XP;en-us;330184&x=7&y=16

To resolve this issue, start the computer from the Windows XP CD, start the Recovery Console, and then use the Bootcfg.exe tool to rebuild the Boot.ini file. To do this, follow these steps:
Configure the computer to start from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. For information about how to do this, see your computer documentation, or contact your computer manufacturer.
Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer.
When you receive the “Press any key to boot from CD” message, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD-ROM.
When you receive the “Welcome to Setup” message, press R to start the Recovery Console.
If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you have to use from the Recovery Console.
When you are prompted, type the administrator password, and then press ENTER.
At the command prompt, type bootcfg /list, and then press ENTER. The entries in your current Boot.ini file appear on the screen.
At the command prompt, type bootcfg /rebuild, and then press ENTER. This command scans the hard disks of the computer for Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows NT installations, and then displays the results. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to add the Windows installations to the Boot.ini file. For example, follow these steps to add a Windows XP installation to the Boot.ini file:
When you receive a message that is similar to the following message, press Y:
Total Identified Windows Installs: 1

Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All)
You receive a message that is similar to the following message:
Enter Load Identifier
This is the name of the operating system. When you receive this message, type the name of your operating system, and then press ENTER. This is either Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
You receive a message that is similar to the following:
Enter OS Load options
When you receive this message, type /fastdetect, and then press ENTER.

Note The instructions that appear on your screen may be different, depending on the configuration of your computer.
Type exit, and then press ENTER to quit Recovery Console. Your computer restarts, and the updated boot list appears when you receive the “Please select the operating system to start” message.

BSNL GPRS new settings

i recharged with rs 175 and had balance above rs 50(must). you can get settings in your mobile by sms:

send sms “handset MODEL” to 58355. eg NOKIA 6630

or call cc at 9400024365/9434024365 (i m in WB circle, so it may be different at different circles)

i tried using bsnl gprs settings that were provided with my sim but it wasnt working so i called bsnl cc and they sent me these settings, i saved it and i m using it successfully:
